I have original blueprints from the ship yard where KONGO was build an a lot of photographs of the Builders model of KONGO, which I use as a guide for building the model.
Model Hull is build with MDF frames and than covered with balsa wood strips, after that I put on the plating of the ship in cardboard strips, according to the pattern which can been seen on old photographs of the ship during building. The "openings" in the hull bottom are sea chests, or in- and outlets of cooling water and exhaust water, also found on the blueprints, but the exact appearance of the openings is a guess, although some are are visible on these same old photographs.
